About
Early Education and Influences
Mario Londoño's journey into art began in 1978 when he joined the Taller de Artes de Medellín. Under master Samuel Vásquez he refined his painting, deepening his understanding of color theory with the guidance of engineer Francisco Sánchez. In 1981 he participated in a painting clinic led by the renowned master Juan Antonio Roda.

European Influence and Puppetry
Mario's artistic development was profoundly shaped by self-directed travels through European museums, based in Barcelona from 1983 to 1984. This period allowed him to immerse himself in Europe's rich artistic heritage, broadening his perspective and inspiring future works.
During this time, he studied the creation and manipulation of puppets with master H.V. Tozer. He created puppets for "El Patito Feo: tergiversación de Andersen" and "El Sol Negro," both written and directed by Samuel Vásquez. From 1985 to 1999 he was deeply involved in staging puppet and theater productions.

Exhibitions and Artistic Recognition
Mario Londoño's work has been presented in numerous solo and collective exhibitions. His first, "Talleres del Taller," at the Cámara de Comercio de Medellín in 1979, marked the beginning of his public artistic presence. Significant exhibitions include his solo show "Umbral del Sueño, Umbral del Mundo" at the British Council in Medellín (1999) and the collective "Museo de los Silencios" at the Consulate General of Colombia in New York (2001).

Design and Illustration
From 1990 to 1999, Mario contributed illustrations to El Espectador's Magazín Dominical. His design work extended to posters and illustrations for cultural events, including the IV Festival de Poesía de Medellín.
He designed book covers for major Colombian literary works, including Juan Manuel Roca's "Antología Poética" and several poetry anthologies, leaving a lasting mark on Colombia's literary circles.

Theater Contributions
In theater, Mario served as set design assistant for works by Fernando Arrabal and Jean Genet. His participation with the Taller de Artes de Medellín brought him to prestigious festivals including the Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogotá and the Festival Internacional de Teatro de Manizales.

Mario Londoño continues to create and innovate, weaving his extensive knowledge and diverse experiences into his current work. His commitment to art — through painting, puppetry, and design — reflects a lifelong dedication to exploring and expressing the human experience.

Artist statement
My work is deeply rooted in the contemplation of the human condition and the world around me. I believe the value of everyday reality is revealed through a poetic lens, inviting viewers to engage in a silent conversation with my art.
The artistic process I employ is a blend of intuition and structured exploration. My work explores the interplay between silence and noise, order and chaos, the real and the imagined.
Series such as Lugar del Silencio and Habitantes del Silencio develop these themes with a nuanced focus, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of absence and presence.
As an artist, my goal is to bridge the tangible and the intangible, creating works that resonate on a deeply emotional level.
